A man wearing red sunglasses and a black T-shirt with colorful text that reads 'More loving less judging' is smiling outdoors in front of painted houses, with a shadow cast on the ground.

Gay Men’s Writing Brunch

FIND YOUR COMMUNITY

Who We Are

Are you craving a deeper connection with other gay men beyond small talk, bars, and apps? Then join us at this gathering for a chance to slow down, reflect, and connect through writing.

Our Gay Men’s group is not necessarily about being a “good writer.” You don’t need experience or a creative background to belong here. Writing is simply the tool we’ll use to explore what’s real, meaningful, and alive in our lives.

Together, through playful prompts and guided reflection, we’ll explore themes that impact us as individuals and as a community:

  • A minimalist digital art illustration of a pink inverted triangle on a light beige background.

    LGBTQ+ history and identity

  • Red diamond-shaped object with a white check mark symbol on a light beige background.

    friendship and belonging

  • A minimalist digital illustration featuring a large green circle resembling a tree or bush, with a smaller green semicircle beneath it, set against a plain light beige background.

    health, emotional well-being, and self-care

  • A digital illustration of an orange inverted triangle with a smaller orange triangle below it, all on a light cream background.

    humor, camp, and playfulness

  • A stylized graphic of a dark blue circle with an inner white circle, overlapping a light beige background.

    desire, sexuality, and self-trust

  • Stylized graphic of a cup with partial circle shape, in pink and red on a beige background.

human rights, resilience, and what it means to live openly

The Setting and the Vibe

This is a gentle, grounding space for community and connection, with writing as the doorway. Think ocean air, cozy corners, warm coffee or tea, and a room full of kind gay men who are here for something real.

Wear comfortable clothes. Bring your journal and a pen (or whatever you like to write with). I’ll provide the prompts, the cozy atmosphere, and a homemade brunch to keep you nourished while we create together.

What you’ll leave with

  • a feeling of genuine community

  • new connections rooted in authenticity

  • a small collection of your own writing—something to keep, revisit, and reflect on

  • a deeper sense of what matters to you, and how you want to create friendships and community with other gay men

A bit about me

My very first workshop began with a group of five gay men (in 1992), and the experience was as profound then as it is now. I am continually amazed by the brave, funny, beautiful, sexy writing produced at our workshops, and for the way these fellow writers treat one another with such respect. It is an honor to witness a group of men listening to one another this way, and to have so many wonderful writers in one room.

Come as you are.

And let’s write our way into connection.
